This bronze sculpture depicts MAGDALINE ‘MAGGIE’ RESHA - Matatiele (05 MAY 1923 – SEPTEMBER 2003)  pointing towards the Qachasnek border, and the secret route that the freedom fighters would use to cross into Lesotho during the apartheid regime. Qachasnek route is also known as the 'liberation route'. Liberation leaders such as Chris Hani, OR Tambo, Moses Mabhida and many others walked this path when going to exile.
It is believed that in Lesotho (Maseru) there was an ANC camp which was used as a screening site for cadres before they could be dispatched to nearby countries, like Tanzania and Mozambique.

Commissioned and installed by the Matatiele Municipality, Eastern Cape.
