The sculpture is part of the Long Walk to Freedom parade of over 100 bronze sculptures. Commissioned by The National Heritage Project View-able by public at Century City, Cape Town.

Ruth Mompati was an important figure in South Africa’s move to freedom and equality for all South Africans, and the fight against apartheid.

Ruth was first active in the Woman’s day march in August 1956 in Pretoria her early 30’s. Later in her life she became the Major of Vryburg, and continued to be an active member of the ANC Woman’s League. Go here for more information on Ruth’s History.
