A silver lining – Sardine mural @home

I had a few left over concrete fish, so installed them at home during the Covid-19 lockdown. A ‘wabi-sabi’ theme, as I have a crack in the wall. I filled it with a silver pigment and placed the concrete and wooden sardines around this silver lining.

This mini school of sardines was Inspired by the mural I made in 2014, ‘The Mass of Men – Sardine Run’, at the KZN King Sharka airport.

The sardine run, happening close to the shores along the coast, usually takes place during the winter months of June/July. The fish move in a great flurry of energy from the colder waters in the South, to the warmer waters further North, moving along the KZN shores. This brings dolphins, sharks, hunting fish, birds and humans to take part in a feeding frenzy. To find out more about this great event – Click here.
