Portrait Bust of the Late Bishop Michael Adalbero Fleischer CMM

I was commissioned to create this portrait bust from a few old photos of this Bishop who was one of the important people who started the order of The Daughters of St Francis of Assisi in Port Shepstone, South Africa.

The bishop’s name was Michael Adalbero Fleischer CMM. He was German by birth, born on the 4th of January 1874 in Dettelbach. He was a Mariannhill Missionary in these places: Rhodesia now Zimbabwe; and in South Africa. He was the first bishop of the Diocese of Mariannhill and the Founder of the Daughters of St. Francis of Assisi in 1922. He died in 1963, March 19; on the Feast of the Saint that was so dear to him; St. Joseph the husband of Mary, Our Lady in the Catholic Church.
